Beyond — Documentary Screening
A screening of the documentary Beyond, co-hosted with the Columbia Muslim Students Association and the Muslim Law Students Association. At Sing Sing prison, a group of incarcerated men organize a TED-style event, sharing personal narratives and bold ideas for changing the prison system. After the film, two featured cast members shared their personal stories and experience filming the documentary.

A one-day conference convening neuroscientists and legal practitioners to examine cutting-edge research and its applications in legal contexts. Sessions covered excessive sentencing and life course development, adverse childhood experiences, mental illness and competency, and practical implementation of neuroscience evidence in courtroom settings. Co-hosted by the Center for Justice at Columbia University.

PACT: Self-Empowerment in Green Haven Prison — Documentary Screening
The New York premiere of PACT: Self-Empowerment in Green Haven Prison, co-hosted with the School of General Studies. The film chronicles an organization established by incarcerated individuals at Green Haven Prison following the Attica Uprising — an organization that has had a transformative impact on people inside and outside prison for over four decades. The screening was followed by a panel discussion featuring former PACT members and current leaders from the Fortune Society, Release Aging People in Prison (RAPP), and the Parole Preparation Project.
